mi ricordi che rivivo in tante cose ah nananananana

I apologize for not writing sooner. I have successfully realized that I am still breathing after my first week of finals.
Can I just say..
JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODER

Much better. It’s been quite a whirlwind. I have written more spanish in these two weeks than I have ever written in a year in one of Mrs. Michael’s high school spanish classes. And for those of you who aren’t aware, that’s a hell of a lot of writing!
Won’t even go into this week. It’s Saturday, it’s Saturday, it’s Saturdayyyyyyyy

So, as I was getting to on my last blog.

Sardegna Italia baby!

Randomly, Ryanair flies to Sardegna for next to nothing, so my dearest Barcelona gal and I decided to venture out for the weekend and investigate. She left from Barcelona, I from Madrid, and we would find each other there at our fancy, comfortable, 15 euro/night, chocolate-on-your-pillow, get away hostel…haha sure…

Tackling the job of getting to the airport on time for international flights is impossible for me. I think I have this syndrome… I have no idea. I was late to the airport for several reasons. One. I didn’t care to look at the terminal in which my small flight to Sardinia would be. Idiot… Idiot! There are four terminals at Barajas and you have to take Metro or bus between them because it’s Gi-freaking-normous. But before that, a good friend of mine had made me a picnic in the park. It was a delightful lunch in Retiro! I’m sorry, I’m terrible with introductions. His name is Sean, and he’s a passionate, kind, and thoughtful person on every level. I’d love to go into much more detail about him, but he is American and has read my blog, and i might feel a bit embarrassed if he were to read more about himself. I could write in spanish but he understands that perfectly. I could attempt it in Chinese, but that just wouldn’t make much sense at all. Ta hen piaoliang ye hen ke’ai. See, now that’s just ridiculous.

So I almost missed my flight. Key word in that-almost. So yes I made it there! I had to be so strategic about this so listen up. I get to the wrong terminal, 5 minutes before the hour before take off that I had to make. Ryan air in terminal 1? No hombre, no me diga eso. Crap. So I ran like a crazy woman –visualize Medusa with her wild snake hair dressed in picnic clothes, cursing nonsense in random languages, and running lopsided because one bag is bigger than the other. Yea… So I make it to the other terminal, 10 minutes late, just to take another 10 minute walk to find the Ryanair section, just to find no one, no one…at the checkin at all. Not even someone to rub it in or scold me for being late. My favorite part of this story is that I ran to a security guard and starting crying hysterically, explaining to him that i needed, joder jesus mary y joseph, to make my flight. I started thinking, and while he was telling me that I couldn’t check-in, i said, JODER TIO HAY UNA BODA MANANA, I told him that my best friend was getting married tomorrow and I had to make the flight because it was the last one flying out and I couldn’t miss the wedding. He grabbed my arm, said, VENGA SENORITA, CORRA!! and we ran together to the ticket office. Frantically, with mascara driving in circles around my eyelids and shaking deliriously, I explained that one of my closest friends was getting married and I would never be able to forgive myself if I missed it!!! …. Within the next 30 seconds I had 3 people making calls, running back and forth, working to get me on that flight. Haha! They let me go, and wished my best friend a lovely wedding…..Spain, so focused on the family… Worked like a dream… What a little liar I am! Awful. Karma will get me for that I suppose.

Sardinia! Finally….Italy..well this place. Let me just say, I get out of airport, look around, and this was the most podunk place I’ve been in Europe. I loved it. Finally, out of a city and visualizing life on a simplistic, content level. Got to see a bit of the simple life in lovely Portugal but this was just so far from large centers of human population. I took the bus to Fertilia, outside of Alghero, a part of Sardinia, and the bus driver told me, ah, don’t worry about paying. He let me ride for free and I made it to the hostel in one piece, still enjoying the repercussions of what had happened at the airport… haha..ahh….hehe

This place, like, get out of town. Literally. There was a pub, a town pizza place, a fruit stand, pastry place, and a little minimart. Heaven… Heaven!!

Daniela and I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this trip. We met a young local gardiner, who drove us around in the weekend and I fell in love with my lastest song obsession Laura Pauisini and Tiziano Ferro ‘Non Me Lo So Spiegare’ in those car trips to Alghero during the night. During the day we had to go on a nature hike to find the beach. While headed through a forest and cliffs to find the beach area, we met a puppy, and named her Pipo. She was a little miniature german shepard, and full of life. She guided us to the beach, but enjoyed getting lost with us for a while! I wanted to adopt that little ball of sunshine. She spazzed on the beach and covered us head to toe with sand…doggies !

The skies were clear and so was the feeling when you saw the landscape of this island. The cliffs, carved and shaped with beams of colors exposed of thier insides were unimaginable. Clear would be an exceptional word for the water too, almost as if it had never been touched. The teal blue resonated from it. This was all such a little heavenly secret! This world, as well all should know, is full of those tiny perfections.

That night we went into Alghero, and had a delicious dinner by the water. We enjoyed pasta mixes with seafood (because what would be better to eat in an island in italy?), and shared a bottle of Sardinian wine.. because you know I’m a connoisseur now. bahaha, right. I’d love to be, at least! What a tough life. pfff

We watched the sunset on the water and I can’t wait to tell you about it. These reds and oranges were so vivid, so fiery, so pure… and the depth of the blue (almost purple from the sky’s reflection) of the water underneath it was itself enough to keep my eyes completely content for the rest of the night. And then in a single moment, the sky began to twist the colors at the peak of a mountain on the other side of the cove, as if he had wrenched his fist and clung to them as he passed beyond the horizon. Perhaps, God was painting, and had decided to swirl the colors… Whatever it was.. it was phenomenal. As it became darker in the other direction, the colors gave their one last brilliant orchestral triumph of golds, maroons, oranges, and rose, playing a tune only the eye could hear… good description? I don’t think it did it justice for a second.

We listened to some live music on the pier, hopped around to a few good places, chatted with some locals, some tourists, and met a sweet German girl that had rented a car and give us a drive home. What luck with transportation for the weekend!

The next day brought some rain with it. I guess God was dumping out his water glass from painting the night before..
hahah..You know when the water gets a bit gray from the color mixtures? That’s kind of what the sky looked like. We rented bikes in the morning–which were probably about 20 years old and impossible to mount–to take to the beach. I had to grab the handle bars, run with the bike, jump, and mount. And then, there had better not be any stops because once I was on it, I couldn’t get down. I ran into a ditch. I almost got hit by a car. No worries mom! Still alive, Success! I wasn’t sure if it was the bike or the fact that I haven’t ridden one in so long.. I can’t believe I’ve lost my youthful touch .. Alright yeah, we’re going to blame it on the bike. We made a picnic (it was a really picnic inspiring week) and the sun finally peeped out after a while at the beach. We met a group of Italian boys…because there should not be a trip to Italy without them, had a few beers, and tried to understand each other with commonalities of italian and spanish. Haha, I think it went well honestly.. It was a wonderful last day. We made it back just in time to make it to our flights again that night, but no need to say I had a wedding to go to in Madrid. It would have been tough to convey the franticness after an amazing mini-vacation.

Look at these photos. Precious! The more I see the more I think about what more the future holds for me… a lovely, lovely, lovely future I just might have coming.

So more to tell coming up! And photos! Fotossss
