Yangmingshan Mountain and North Beach

This past weekend I worked myself up north to have a little adventure workout and beach time.

When Pia and I arrived to Taipei Main Station to take the bus to Yangmingshan, I really have to say, we made a scene. We always “make” a scene in Taipei, because both mine and her knowledge of the Mandarin language is both monotonous and nonexistent. Even our XieXie’s (Thank you’) are pretty painful for the Taiwanese. We are always spinning some sort of drama because we are like lost wild puppy dogs that want to love but due to our nature we will forever be lost…

We have no idea where we are going, and therefore we arrived to Main Station and had to have a security guard assist us all the way to the side of the street to point exactly where we had to stand. How often does it run? Do we swipe when we “shang” or “xia” the bus? How far to Yangmingshan? Is it cold at the top of the mountain? What’s your mom’s first name? What do you do in your spare time? Soccer or American football? Those last three questions were to emphasize our annoying-ness.

So we arrive in Yangmingshan, and just to get to the visitor center we basically had to climb a mountain. I am providing photos from thereafter, because the scenery and the mountain was so breathtaking, it is almost indescribable. What’s even more indescribable is the amount of energy, sweat, pathetic climbing ability and imbalance I possessed. Just for future reference it is really embarrassing when a 75 year old man passes a prime and healthy 21 year old up a mountain side. Oooh, this mountain culture!

The top of the mountain was so much cooler in temperature, and we couldn’t see a thing because of the clouds. It was fascinating to have trucked all the way to the top and not see a view. I finally felt complete by the journey and not by seeing the skyline. It’s a character building, self-appreciation activity. Certainly I will be doing it again.

The rest of the photos are of the beach and tonight I’ll throw up some photos of Luxy, the coolest entertainment approach of a club I have ever been to, and that line should hold some power!
